Apple’s quarterly conference call for the first fiscal quarter of 2014 disclosed more details than the usual financial results. Tim Cook himself has admitted that demand for the plasticky iPhone 5c was different than what Apple had expected.
During the conference, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer has revealed that the latest new iOS7 has been installed on 80 percent of compatible iOS devices like iPhones and iPads. Apple said that iOS 7 was reported to be installed on 78 percent of devices. iOS’ rival, Android, has been facing the fragmentation problem since it was launched. Now, the most used Android version is the last-generation 4.3 “Jelly Bean,†running on roughly 60 percent of devices. The latest KitKat 4.4 is on only 1.5 percent of Android devices.
Also, it’s likely that those who have installed iOS 7.0.1 and 7.0.2. have also been taken into account. The iPhone 5s, 5c, 5 4S and 4, as well as all the iPads down to the iPad 2 and original iPad mini can be upgraded to iOS 7. Apple has also informed developers that iOS 6 has slipped to 17 percent from its 20% in the beginning of December, last year.
