Ios 6 Mail WiFi Incompatibility

The standard Mail app does not work with Time-Warner Cable WiFi, at least with Yahoo mail and Gmail. They work fine with my home WiFi and from hot spot WiFi from my Verizon. This was verified with two new ipads. I tried using different smtp ports for Yahoo, calling Time Warner, and searching the Net, all to no avail. I had no problems with a previous ipad & ios. Any clues or comments?

To follow up, Gmail works with the Gmail app download from the market and the WiFi question is in Myrtle Beach and it didn't work in two Time Warner WiFi locations.
