Can iPad (first Gen) be upgraded to iOS 6 and above? I have an iPad, purchased three years back. Earlier I used to get updates alerts and got updated upto 5.1.1 whereafter haven't received any update alerts for iOS 6. Should I reconcile to this situation.

The highest supported operating system on iPad 1 is iOS 5.1.1.

You won't receive updates for iOS 6.

iOS 5.1.1 is the latest iOS version available for the iPad 1. There is no way to update to iOS. 6.
