Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

All the apps will be perfectly functional though, if you open a new account, you won't receive any updates. But you could switch back to your son-in-law's account occasionally and update the apps - because updates are always free!!

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

    Apple - Support - Manuals

    Please read the rules too!!

    Welcome To The Forum

If you don't yet have a copy of the Manual, you can download one from:

    Apple - Support - Manuals

And take a look at the forum rules available from:

In answer to your question, re-naming the ipad is easy. Connect to itunes on your PC or Mac, connect your ipad, and when it appears (with your son's name) click on that icon. The box will go white and allow you to enter the name you want for the device.

As to the apps. Others here know more than I do about the legals, but my gut feeling is....No. I hope I'm wrong, but you may have to buy them again. The original user can install them again, (your son) But I stand corrected. Anyway, enjoy your new ipad, and feel free to post as many questions as you like here, plenty of freindly, happy people to help :)
