I just got an iPad. Where do I start?

The title says it all folks. After attempting to jailbreak my last iPad (which to no fault of my own ending in hardware failure) I want to follow a rigorous and meticulous set of instructions allowing me to successfully jailbreak my factory fresh one error free. Where do I begin?
