I can't update apps in AppStore

Hi, I've read a few posts about not being able to update apps in the AppStore. I can get into the store, but when I select updates, I get an error message: cannot connect to iTunes store.

None of the fixes I've seen so far help. I can't find any orphaned downloads, and other access in iTunes and the AppStore is fine. Anything I'm missing? Have logged out and back in, closed all apps in the bottom menu, done full shutdown and even 'hard' reset.

Have not updated to ios 6 yet as waiting for things to settle.

UPDATE: this problem has been rectified through updating to iOS 6

I got connected once to cancel an automatic payment I had selected I didn't want. After that I get the cant connect note even when I select the "report. Problem button"
