The tunes and podcasts are all in iTunes on our MacBook. The synching runs OK without any error messages. The odd thing is that when the iPad is connected to the MacBook, the tunes and podcasts are visible in the iPAD "Devices" list. I can even play them from the iPAD on the MacBook while connected to the iPAD. Also, when in "Settings" on iPAD (now not connected to theMacBook), I checked the memory usage for iTUNES and could see all the missing tunes and podcasts!!!! They are there, but inaccessible through the iPAD iTUNES APP....
Any ideas?

The iTunes App on the iPad is not the same as iTunes on your MacBook, it is just a portal to the iTunes store. Your music will be in the Music App, films will be in the Videos App, etc, etc.

I hope that helps you.
