...on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Apple sent me confirmation of my order an hour later. The next day, I received notification that my order has been received and it was shipped. The email gave me a link to FedEx. The email told me to expect the iPad around 11/28 or 11/29. GREAT!

Since this timeframe gave me a whole week, I started looking up various applications that I would install on the new iPad. This iPad would be dedicated to music--writing music, editting music scores, etc.

This past Tuesday, November 22, I got an email from Apple telling me that FedEx was not able to deliver the iPad due to restrictions! Say what? So I got back to the FedEx link and behold, FedEx tried to deliver the iPad to my home address and could not give it to me because the package needed a signature. WHOA! Apple sent my new iPad two day AIR! I didn't ask for this service but I got it! How cool is that?

Picked up the iPad that afternoon. I started setting up the iPad, giving it a unique name, started installing apps. I discovered this iPad2 didn't have the os5.0.1 installed, did that. I still can't believe how fast, efficient, and super Apple/Fed-Ex was to get this new iPad2 to me.

Just one more reason to be Thankful!

Hello Marie! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Yes, the 48 hour Apple experience was pretty remarkable. Sorry your experience Moonlitsonata was different. Many months ago when Apple first intoduced the ipad and all its accessories, I had a very poor experience with ordering via Apple store and getting the product to me in a timely way.

Another good reason to be thankful: Apple can and does deliver and when something goes wrong or the process isn't working, they can adjust and adapt.

Nice story, MattIM. It's cool that Apple still goes above and beyond with customer experience. Congrats on the purchase!

iOS is the operating system of the iPad. iOS 5.0.1 is the latest version. If you have an older version (iOS 4.x.x or earlier) you can update, free of charge, through iTunes on your PC/Mac. If you have iOS 5.0, you can update "over the air" (OTA) directly to your iPad without any other computer being involved.

I hope that helps you but if not please let us know?

The Archangel
