IS there a way to sync my gmail contacts on my iPad 2

Yes, you can sync your Gmail contacts on your iPad:

1. Connect your iPad to your computer.
2. Open iTunes (if it doesn't open automatically).
3. Click on your iPad in the left-hand menu.
4. Click on the "Info" tab at the top of iTunes.
5. Click "Sync Address Book Contacts".
6. Click "Sync Google Contacts"
7. Click "Configure".
8. In the Terms pop-up window click "Agree".
9. Enter your Gmail login details to start the sync.

That should do it!
