How to scan code

I get postal mail with scan to download ipad app.

I tried camera but all it did was take picture. I could not find way to activate the reading and go to site.

Do I need an app added to do this? Or is it built in ?

Hello - yes, you will need an appropriate scanner - I have 4 on my iPad (some seem to work better than others and the resolution on my older iPad 2 camera might also be an issue in scanning in these items?); I also have movie & music apps that have built in scanning - so depending on what 'type' of scan you want, just go to the app store and search on 'barcode scanners' - there will be plenty of hits - you'll have to try a few out to see which may serve your needs (some are free and others not) - good luck!

Got onto site, buuuuut....

Ugggh ! The addvert said for iPhone / ipad, BUT it was for android.
Yuck! Bad marketing !

Well at least I can scan now.
