When I delete messages I get a message saying that the messages could not be moved to the folder....even though they seem to leave the inbox.
I have tried all the suggested ways of deleting: Swipe, Edit etc. but I still get the message. I am guessing that they are going into my trash or junk folders because they have so many messages in there. Will appreciate any help.

If you go to 'Settings', 'Mail, Contacts, Calendar', 'Accounts', -> select the account that you're interested in and then - you sometimes have to press the account name again - you'll find an 'Advanced' tab where there's an option to set how frequently the deleted/trashed email will be removed - from 'Never' to 'Each Month', 'Each Week' etc...

Thank you Tim. now if I can figure out how to dump the items in the junk mail folder....I do not see an advanced setting for that. KMG

Are you using IMAP or POP as your receive mail protocol? If you're using IMAP then the iPad is a 'window' onto your email server and you'd have to change the settings on your email server to be able to do that. In other words, if you change the settings on your email server to, say, delete the junk mail every week, then that will automatically be reflected on the iPad.
