Just found this forum and hope someone cleverer than me can help with a problem.
Since I did the last IOS update I am having problems with some game apps. One crashed completely so I restarted and built up again, the other 'CandyCrush' I deleted myself and restarted.
My problem is that twice now with Candycrush when I open the app it has reverted to the original version (the one I deleted). Same thing happened with the other game, the one that crashed.
I'm quite new to iPads so I don't know if it is a problem I am causing, the app is, or it is with the iPad. I haven't done anything to restore, don't know how to so it can't be that.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Ann B

What do you mean by reverted to the original version?

Apps you purchase in the App Store are associated with your Apple ID. When you delete and download them again, it's still the same app. If you've made in-app purchases the app should remember that too (though sometimes you have to go into their settings and prompt them). If you have GameCenter going, there is a fair chance the app will even remember your scores (varies from app to app).

There is another possibility. If you were expecting a newer version of that app, seen in the App Store, your iPad will only download it if the app is compatible with your hardware and current version of iOS. Otherwise it may download the last compatible version of the app (if the developer permits). This is a new feature of the App Store, and I'm not sure how it will look when this happens.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to explain better what happened.
I play 'Secret Society' hidden object game. Got to level 74 with 20 or so 'friends'and the app froze. The game developers promised a fix but this was very slow coming so I deleted the app, reloaded it from Cloud and started again from level 1, new game ID, and built up a new list of 'friends', different to the first list.
A few weeks later the game crashed and when I clicked on the app on the Home screen to re-open it had lost all the progress, back to level 1, back to list of friends from the original game but lost all the friends from when I restarted.
To me it looked like it had reverted to the first game but I'm confused as to how that could happen.

Sounds very much like a problem with that app. It's possible it is not fully compatible with iOS 7. There will be very little you can do until the developer updates the app. I'd make sure you leave feedback on their support site.

Also, because it is a social app, it possible that your game data is on their servers, not the iPad. If for some reason the app looses your account association (no idea how this is being done) it could lose everything. Or the server could just be dumping your data. Hard to tell, but this too will be up to the developer to fix.

I went to check the App Store reviews on the game, and I see a couple of the newest reviews are citing the same problem as you (maybe one of them is you?)

Sorry not to be of any real help.
