Help with filming continuous footage over an hour long

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question here: I need to video over an hour of continuous footage on my iPad 2.
But when I tried to do this using the rear camera, the camera stopped at 49 minutes. The file size is 3.69GB. I still had plenty of battery and memory left and was able to film new clips.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to record for longer than 49 minutes continuously?
Is the file size too big?

If there isn't a setting to change the settings to allow for more time then one would assume that it isn't possible.
