I bit the bullet and bought an ipad2 16gb wifi 3g. new to the Apple product, I need to find some clear simple helps to become somewhat proficient. The user manual left me in the dark. I can however turn it on and off and connect wirelessly with Safari. can you point me to the best tutorials? Thanks1

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

It seems at every turn I can't chat on gmail, for instance or watch tv without being told apple doesn't recognize Adobe flash so I can't watch, etc. The apps aren't very well explained, such as google voice. In general want to e able to do with apple what I ould do with windows, or come close.

To watch videos you need an app... Such as netflix, youtube, abc player, hbo go, nbc player, bbc iplayer, etc.

Google chat is not supported via browser. Download an application called vtalk. Works wonders.

Flash is not supported on an iPad. Please do not ask why... Its just not. (lengthy debates could ensue ;))

You'll probably end up very frustrated if you're looking to emulate Windows. There are different apps and workarounds, but it doesn't work like Windows, and Steve Jobs and Apple were widely publicized for hating Flash.

I've only ever used Windows, and I embraced iPad for what it does, rather than focusing on what it doesn't. Reading tips, trying out apps and such, reading the manual (I think the only manual I've ever read that made sense) worked for me. But YMMV.

As far as Flash goes have a look here, you will also find some workarounds-
