my dad would not let me drive in 1970 Sent from my IPad using IPF. GC wenchwhino HD level 62
My car was built in 1970 and I did NOT get it new!! Lol! This was the first car I bought myself and not a parental hand-me-down. When I worked at Disneyland, employees all parked in one HUGE lot. When I would see a Bug I would walk by it to cross to the next row of cars. :)
The first car I ever owed that I bought MYSELF was a blue 1991 Toyota Tercel that looked just like this one. It was a stick shift and I bought it for $5000 in about 1997 and sold it for $600 in 2004 :) I loved it because it represented my independence at the time, but it didn't have a single cup holder which SO annoyed me that it's the first thing I ever look for in any car since then! <img src="http://www.ipadforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=53649"/> GC: EyeC999 Level 91
My Bug had roll down window handles, no AC, and these side vent windows you would open if you were hot. It steered all the bugs right at you!!! Yuck! ="EyeC999;1045482"] I can soo imagine you, Carolyn, flying down a California freeway, hair a-flying and breaking hearts in this car :D ! GC: EyeC999 Level 91[/QUOTE] memories..... sweet.... ;)

My first car was a 1968 Ford Mustang. It was a V8, automatic. I paid $2000 for it. There was a button on the floor by my left foot that was used to switch to high beams. the windows were manual and it did have air conditioning. It was this color green but I didn't have fancy tires or rims. I washed it almost every weekend. I loved that car!

California, we've got your storm! The wind picked up at about 2am and it is really trying hard to rain right now. It smells so good outside.

Awesome ride, Val! I remember that high beam button on the floor! It might have been in the family's Monte Carlo! Ha!

It is a muddy mess at my house! Leaves, branches, mulch everywhere! 3.65" total so far. From California to Arizona, storm sent with love! I hope you enjoy it! :)

I definitely will. We are not supposed to get as much rain as you....and we are used to crazy flash floods anyway. Come on rain!

A little sprinkle or two is all we've had. Nice and cool out though. Here's my lemon tree and the clouds.

We still have one. It is white with a red interior and yes, it has the high beam light switch on the floor. No air conditioning though. ;(
The washer fluid is a pump (by foot) on the floor as well. We've refinished it twice since my husband bought it from his father 25+ years ago.
His dad bought it new in 1968 as a "family car"!!

I wish I had known how to work on cars. I kept it for a long time but finally sold it to a guy friend who wanted to restore it.

It's finally raining....pouring actually.

I loved tinkering on my Bug! Seemed like my distributor cap needed constant replacing! I had alternator problems one time when I was at University...Had to leave my car in downtown Riverside. When I came back to it the next day, it was broken into! They stole my stereo! I ended up better off tho with a sweet Bose system!! Thanks Insurance!! :). I wish I still had my Bug :(

Hey Nance! What's shakin'? :)

Been waaay too busy with work. Travelling lots this week and only slightly happy to be home because it is downright frigid.
What's up with you? How you doing?
