I've been watching all the comments and am curious about whether I need to expand to catch all the fish. I've been holding my expansion mats and trying a Personal challenge to catch all the fish in the original two ponds. Of 30 kinds, I am missing 6.

I have:
Copper redhorse (bronze/silver )
Roach (bronze/silver)
Coho salmon (bronze/silver)
Yellow perch (bronze/silver)
Fallfish (bronze/silver/gold)
???
Bluegill (bronze/silver)
Rainbow fish (bronze/silver)
Bluespotted sunfish (silver/gold)
???
Asp (silver)
???
Huchen (bronze)
Shadow bass (bronze/silver)
Northern pike (bronze)
???
Spotted sunfish (bronze)
Sauger (bronze/silver/gold)
Arctic char (silver)
Rudd (bronze/silver)
Yellow bass (bronze/silver)
Greater redhorse (bronze/silver)
???
Largemouth bass (bronze)
???
Grass carp (silver)
Green sunfish (bronze/silver)
Northern studfish (bronze/silver)
Striped bass (bronze/silver/gold)
Longear sunfish (silver)

Many of these show in the pictures in different locations.

I'm curious of your thoughts on whether the six that I'm missing can be caught without expanding.

Struggling to catch a Longear sunfish, any tips ? These hard fighters seem to catch everything else with purple and medium spot.

Hello Nancy!
Some of the common fishes are easier to find, you can catch them almost anywhere with the right lure and size of inner circle (ripple, if u prefer), and it's impossible to note them all of the location in Chumley's data compilation.

But most of the rarest (and the hardest to catch) fishes are unique to a particular area.
Some of the rare fishes are:
Bitterling, can only be found in deep water
Golden Trout, can only be found in reed
Speckled Dace, deep water
Brook Trout, reed
Longear Sunfish, Reed

...and so on, I probably missed some other, and there might be people who catches the fishes above outside the specific area I mentioned. If there is, please let us/Chumleyboo knows so we can update the data!

Therefore, in my opinion, it's impossible to collect all the fishes without expanding at all. Expanding 1 of each area might be, but not at all is impossible. :)

Hello Skbob! How did it go, ur effort to catch Longear Sunfish? :)
Did u try to use the purple lure, medium circle in reed fishing area 1, the one with the waterfall? If u did and u failed, what fish did u get instead of Longear Sunfish?

Try reed 2 medium circle purple lure
But you can catch some other fish the same way, like bluespotted sunfish, spotted sunfish or even a sauger so it's a matter of luck

Narab which are the two original areas? (I can't remember).

They call them "shallow water fishing spot" (right in front of large hut where fishing book is) and "reed fishing area" (just to the left of it). Both are at the top.

I missing 6 (the "???") in my list, so you've given me the names of four I don't have yet. I did catch the Longear Sunfish.

I notice you seem to be able to make them jump by clicking on them....maybe I can get them to come over and still catch them without expanding. That said, I may have to expand at some point as I have tons of expansion mats taking up valuable space in my barn!
