Having trouble uploading a report on line using the ipad 2

I have a new Ipad 2 and use it to upload reports. Several times I tried this past weekend to upload a report which can take up to 45 minutes to complete. Each time I got almost to the end and then the screen went black and I lost all the information in the report. I tried two nights in a row for almost 4 hours!!! to get it to work. I was using wifi. Someone please tell me if I need to return the Ipad or what is going wrong. This is my first foray into the MAC world and I can't say that it has been a good one!!
