I have DSL through AT&T and just bought an iPad. I got the 3g with Wifi.

I am guessing it is hooked up to our WiFi in our house.

I understand AT&T DSL customers can hook up to AT&T Hot Spots for free with login and password.

Is this the same for iPad users? Can I set my iPad up to automatically search for AT&T Hot Spots and prompt me for my login and password?

Yes - this shouldn't be a problem. If you have your iPad WiFi switched on then your iPad will continually search for WiFi hotspots when you're 'out and about' and it will prompt you on the screen if it finds a network and ask you if you want to join. The first time you'll have to supply your login and password. After that, if you've authorised your iPad to 'Automatically Join Known Networks' in the iPad's 'Settings' menu, then it will simply join and login to the next AT&T hotspot that it finds without you having to do anything.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad
