I bought a 128gb Air yesterday so I thought that I would say hello. I am totally new to the iPad so I imagine that I will be reading several of the threads around here so that I can become comfortable using it.

I am a semi-pro photog which is a big reason for my purchasing it. That and the fact that I do not want to carry my laptop with me when I travel back to Japan later in the year.

Hope to learn a lot of tricks here.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry - welcome to the forum! :) Concerning your profession, look around the forum, there has been plenty of threads/posts related to photo use & manipulation on an iPad (you'll see my name in many); also checkout these recent threads (No.1 & No.2) just for starters.

For those taking a LOT of photos on the road w/ just their iPad along, storage and preservation of the original images are important (of course you already know that, so sorry) - the iPad is not a good storage device for traveling - Wi-Fi connected devices which accept SD cards and USB inputs are better options; also keep in mind that when photos from camera storage devices, such as a SD card, are imported into the iPad (e.g. w/ the CCKit), the images are typically down-sized and if also deleted on the storage card, the original will be lost. So just some initial considerations for you. Dave

Hi Larry and welcome to the Forum!

Congratulations on your new Air, it really is a wonderful iPad.

I visited Japan myself in October/November just gone and my iPad served me so well with keeping in touch with family and for the hundreds of photos I took there. It is just so much easier using an iPad when travelling!

If you're interested I've been compiling a travelogue of my trip.....the next installment should be posted soon, but then I see you've already been there also.
