Hello there,

Just thought I'd say hello. I recently traded an iMac for a 3rd gen. iPad, which I am using mostly for learning German, and controlling Logic Pro via V-Control Pro, an amazing (albeit not cheap) little app. The iPad is a great little addition to my home studio, and being able to control Logic from anywhere in the room is so much better than being tied to my desk, and a chair that my old back doesn't particularly love. I never really thought I'd own one of these gizmos, but my choices were limited regarding what I could get for my iMac. It basically came down to either another Mac Mini (my main computer now is a 2011 Mini Server), an iPad, or a store credit for some future purchase. Since I saw no point in getting another mini, I chose the iPad. I am very happy I did, as I use it more and more every day.

Cheers!

Dr. Robert

Hi there and welcome.

That is interesting about using your iPad to control Logic, having seen people who are stuck behind a mixing desk before it sounds like a great use.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Thank you for your greetings, and the pertinent information!

Yes, controlling Logic from across the room (or even in the next room, lol) is great, although for really fine work I still have to work from my desktop. I wonder how long that is going to last? As for learning German, I currently have around 5 translator/dictionary apps, so I can read a book comfortably in bed, and look up words at my convenience, with a minimum of breaking the flow of the text. I didn't get the cellular model (much to my wife's relief, hahaha), so I have to be near wi-fi to get stuff online.

I've started to get the urge to swipe my 27" monitor for my mini...... :p

Cheers,

Dr. Robert.
