    Google launches YouTube Kids.JPG

MacRumors reports that Google has today unveiled a new iOS app, YouTube Kids, which is designed to give children and their parents a new child-friendly portal where they will be able to find videos about lots of different types of content.

The child-safe content is divided up into four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore.

Among the many exciting things that kids will be able to see via the new app are dinosaur facts from National Geographic Kids, tech stuff from Reading Rainbow, Thomas the Tank Engine on the Thomas & Friends channel, as well as lots of other channels including DreamWorks TV, Jim Henson TV, Mother Goose Club and Talking Tom and Friends.

As you might expect, there are several different parental controls to ensure that the app stays safe for kids, and that parents stay sane, including a timer that you can use to limit your kids screen time, search settings, and sound settings, in case all those whacky noises start to grate on you!
