    There is a video converter to convert .mkv files to mp4 called GotSent. If you choose the Xbox360 encoding option, it encodes perfectly(IMO) for playback on the IPad 2. Just thought I'd share, if anyone had .mkv files to re-encode. :)

    GotSent, does not change the resolution as far as I know and the video output is incredible and looks very very good. It's relatively fast as well, on my slow laptop, it takes 20-30 minutes to convert a file. On a faster system I am sure it would be much faster.
