some of the events in my calender have an entry in the text section that says for example "1000 GMT" for an 1100 appointment. My time zone is set to London. Annoying but not life threatening. Thoughts welcome

Dear osborneuk,
You may have setup your iPad as US (English) so it picked up the USA time zone.

It looks as if you've run afoul of what I call the "GMT Bug." Please see this thread for more info: http://www.ipadforums.net/threads/something-on-the-net-forcing-gmt-on-calendar-entries.126073/

I have heard that iOS 8.2 fixes the issue but for now, we're kind of stuck with either living with it or using another calendar. Sorry.

Marilyn
It's confirmed, the upcoming release of iOS 8.2, which is now in Gold Master release fixes the GMT calendar bug which has affected so many members.
