    Re. the Finger Lakes wines, I hope they taste as good as they did when we sipped them while gazing at the grapevines and the lakes. Ambience is plays a big part in wine tastings.

    YES, so true! We visit a LOT of NC (North Carolina) & VA (Virginia) wineries and I'm always enthralled tasting the wines on the premises, SO purchased a few to bring home on a recent trip - in our area, the whites are usually fine but the reds invariably are losers (IMHO) - the last couple of reds that I bought in VA on this trip were disappointing @ home - one I just blended w/ a Washington State Merlot (tasted fine); the other I dumped down the drain (I was going to have it w/ some expensive grilled lamb chops - WELL, decided on a CA Pinot Noir instead).
