Any guesses on what this product might be? Could it be a smaller or larger iPad 3 ? :)

The rumors I've heard say that Phillipe Starck might be designing the new Apple TV set.Nothing firm, though.

    Apple denied this.

Further updates to articles and speculation suggests he is actually working on a (revolutionary) yacht commissioned by Steve Jobs, and has been seen consulting with Mrs. Jobs.

December seems like an odd time for Apple to be announcing a product, but we'll see.

This site does a good job of tracking rumors and releases, and the timeframe doesn't seem to jibe with past years' products releases, according to my quick skim:

The last time there was a buzz at Apple about a revolutionary new product, it was the iPad... I think it's going to be more than a tv. Not sure what it can be though.

If you will look it up, Phillipe Starck is working on a new yacht that he was commisson to design for Steve Jobs. They had been collobarating long before his death and Job's widow is working with him to complete it. It is a beautiful ship, but I have to wonder about when the ship requires more crew than passengers. I would never begrudge Jobs or his family the fruits of his labor, but a ship like that is like having a personal Boing 747. A nice status symbol, but not often practical.

It states in the Daily Mail Uk that apple are set to release a mini iPad. I know we have heard this rumour before but does anything think it might be true?

Yeah just like an iPhone. Lmao! I was wondering what would be the point behind a smaller iPad.

Actually, a 7" version makes a lot of sense, for a lot of reasons.

Lower price may make it more feasible for some, especially now that Apple is getting into the text book market. I wouldn't spend $499+ on a device for my kids for school, but I would consider spending the $250-300 touted by the rumor mill.

The smaller size could also be a draw for some. I kept hold of my old e-reader when I got my iPad and even bought a Kindle Fire because I preferred the smaller size for reading. I still do, though my Fire has gone by the wayside because the retina display has spoiled me. A smaller iPad would work for me. In the same vein, casino hosts and waitresses at my DH's work cart around iPod touches to enrol folks into the players club on the fly. They use the iPod because the iPad is too large for them to carry easily, but they often get complaints about the small screen size, both from staff and customers. A 7" screen could be the perfect solution.

Just two off the top of my head ... Well, three - Apple could well make a chunk of money by offering up a more affordable alternative!

We have a poll that discussing the feasibility of a smaller iPad. I would suggest looking through that to get more input. I think this thread should be about whether or not the the ship has a hPad with dock for the ihelicopter.

Well, the Adastra can be controlled with an iPad. I'd expect this one to have that at a minimum.
