    As of now, the only Microsoft Office apps out would be OneNote, and even that is beta. They've been reluctant to release apps for Apple products.

    If you need to be able to open Excel documents on the iPad, get Numbers. It's Mac's version but they made it so you can open and edit MS Office files and save in the same format.

    Other popular options are Docs 2 Go and QuickOffice. Both have their supporters. No app offers full computability or all the features of Microsoft Office, but these are somewhat more compatible than Numbers.

    I use Numbers, but my Microsoft Office compatibility needs are modest, and it does a pretty pretty good job of importing and exporting Excel. Numbers is very easy to work with, which is my main reason for using it, and I have an iMac with the full version, which is even better of course.
