Email security

Good evening all, I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping I will learn new things , I have the original IPAD 3G , I was wondering is there another way of protecting other family members from just tapping in my mail APP and reading mails, i have tried to go into mail settings accounts but must have the password locked in it wont allow me not have the password taken out

The Mail app cannot be restricted. The iPad is not designed to be a multi-user device in the same way as a Windows PC. The assumption is that the user will require access to email etc whenever the device is turned on and unlocked.
