email inbox - empty pages

since last night all emails in my Inbox present but when you open each of them, incl old ones, the pages are completely empty.

Reset your iPad. This will remove some glitches, and maybe help with your issue as well:
Press and hold Home and Power button at the same time until the Apple logo appears. Release both and let the iPad power up on it's own.

You could also try to force close the app.
Double tap the Home button to reveal the multitask bar.
In iOS 6: tap and hold an app icon until they start to wiggle. Delete Mail from there.
In iOS 7: slide the thumbnails (pictures) above the app icons towards the top of the screen.
