as Ibooks doesn't have any books to download if you live in Ireland does anyone know of a book app that works from Ireland. Anyone know when or if this is going to be sorted by Apple?

Kindle is probably better than iBooks anyway - more choice and the books are generally cheaper. If you really want to use iBooks the answer is simply to open a second iTunes account in another country - say the UK. You don't need a credit card, just an iTunes Gift Card; the details of how to do this on the Apple Web site and many Members have multiple iTunes accounts.
