Downloading iPad apps without sync

I have been trying to download a couple games recently, and every time I do this, my iPad tells me one of two things: either "you must be logged in to my iTunes account(which I usually am already)" OR "you have already paid for this app, and in order to download it you must sync with your computer". Maybe I am dumb but that makes absolutely no sense to me. Help?

just sync with your computer for now, but this is not a known issue.

Try shutting the iPad off for a few minutes, turn it back on and try again. I was having the same issue on my iPhone. It needed reset, I guess.

The iPad will not download apps over 20MB in size when using 3G. If that was the case, try again when you have a Wi-Fi connection.
