Yet another great retro release makes its debut in the App Store today, courtesy of DotEmu, who specialise in releasing nostalgic classics. This time it’s the Arcade cabinet, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, Gameboy and NES classic from the 90s Jaleco series, Rod Land: A Fairy Tale! Now available as a universal app, the game sees the player taking on the role of a cute little fairy with magical powers as she tries to save her mother who has been kidnapped by horrible monsters. Both a Survival mode and Story mode are featured. In the former, you play with just five lives and a magical wand from the beginning to the end, and in the latter, you get to unlock the stages of the adventure one by one. In all, there are 60 different levels to enjoy, with three different endings, and a classic retro 90s soundtrack, as well as plenty of bonuses and secrets. And as a special treat to celebrate the release of Rod Land, all Jaleco series games in the App Store, such as Avenging Spirit, are available for $0.99/€0.79 for a limited time.

Click here to download the game for $1.99/€1.59: Rod Land : A Fairy Tale for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), and iPad on the iTunes App Store
