Does anyone know what type of magnets the ipad 2 smartcover uses?

    thanks, i read the guide before, i was wondering if anyone was familiar with what type of metal in particular they used for these magnets?

    I made my own smart cover using 1 yes I said 1 earth magnet that's it and it puts my iPad into sleep mode look at my thread

    oh i was actually looking to make the actual locking mechanism not just the on off, was wondering what type of earth magnet you used?
