Disappearing emails

The max the iPad will let you store is the most recent 200 emails. You can adjust the # in the settings, but for some stupid reason not beyond 200. That is not enough if you handle a lot of emails as I do, and it's extremely annoying if you want to refer to older ones. I have plenty of space on my iPad and I want to be able to store ALL the emails I have on file. They don't take up much space, so it's ridiculous that the limit is 200. 
There's a workaround if you have a gmail account and send/receive everything through that, using the gmail login rather than the iPad mail facility, but if you do it that way you are accessing them via remote storage, which will be slow if you are using 3G rather than WiFi.
