I have imported an Excel spreadsheet into Numbers. A column of dates in Excel (e.g. Tues March 2 2013) appears in Numbers as a number (e.g. 41013).
Can I prevent this from happening? Or can I convert the numbers back to a date format in Numbers?

You should be able to just change the format of the cell(s) back to a date format.

I agree I should be able to do as you say, but it does not work.
I have got around it by inserting a new column and populating it with "Dec 30 1899" plus the number from the imported column.
