I encountered this problem earlier, but back then I really had quite a lot of sources listed in Cydia. Now it's happened again. I get a black dialog box with the following:
Code:
-Wow, you exceeded the number of package names this APT is capable of.
-Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/...
-The package lists or status file could no be parsed or opened.
(I think it was something else yesterday, or earlier today.)
What could be the reason -- did one of the sources suddenly increase their "supply" of packages? Is there any other solution apart from removing some of the sources?

I think it had something to do with one of the default repos, namely apt.thebigboss.org. After removing it, Cydia worked again. Being curious and trying to add it back later on -- didn't work; it reported something about an old repo format.
