Hey all, I thought I would post the pics of my car mount now that it is finally done. The vehicle it is in is a 2004 Sebring convertible. As you can see I relocated my Kenwood head unit down into where the factory 6 disc changer was...this only required enlarging the opening in the panel just a bit and did not require me to lengthen an wires. Now, the actual mount...a 1/2 inch thick piece of laser cut acrylic (main base) with the two brackets being 1/4" thick by 3/4 wide. The main base as well as the inside of the holding brackets are covered in adhesive backed hobby foam. What I did to mount it to the dash was to take the mounting kit that had been used with my head unit and on the inside of it I screwed in a piece of solid oak and painted it black as well as drilled a hole through for running the charge/audio cable. Then, onto the from of the mounting kit i screwed a 2x4 from the back onto it. This piece is a straight cut for the end that is attached to the stereo mount and the end that is attatched to the iPad holder is cut at a 60 degree angle. The holder is screwed into this then the adhesive backed foam covers the screws so they are never seen. Also the length of the 2x4 is 4" at the longest point, this puts it in perfect reach while driving and it is absolutely solid...does not bounce around at all! Also, the foam keeps it from moving as it isnt a tight squeeze to slide it in as i didnt want my screen marred up. If anyone would like one of these to be made, get in contact with me and we can work something out...obviously, relocating a head unit isnt an option in every vehicle where your sound components end up is on you. If you're in the central Indiana area a complete install done by me is an option. Suggestions and comments are always welcome! :)

Actually, the glare in sunlight with the top down is not all that bad. I haven't gone with using an anti-glare protector because of the iridescent prism effect all that I've seen so far seem to have. Going to be getting an otterbox defender case soon and am going to have to modify the mount to hold it.

Already done something I've wanted to do for a long time....go through a drive through with a car full of people with the top down, playing a porn on the screen, but acting totally oblivious to it and have someone in the back film the reaction. lol Maybe a bit immature, but it makes for great laughs! lol

Hey all, did an update on this. I finally got my Otterbox Defender case and have modified the mount. Basically I totally done away with the acrylic base and L-brackets and am now just using the snap on cover/stand of the defender screwed directly into the dash mount. Snaps in and out easily, yet no ammount of jarring or rough roads/rr tracks will make it come loose.
