Crashes since upgrading

Since upgrading to iOS 5 my iPad 1 crashes now and again usually when using Safari, anyone any ideas as to why or is this a bug.

It appears to be a shortage of RAM, I have this on my iPad 1 but not on my iPad 2. One method of releasing RAM is to open the task bar at the bottom of the home screen, 4 finger swipe up (or is it down?) or double press the home button, touch and hold any app in the task bar then close apps by touching the - sign at the top left of the app icon.

I have tried all of the tips you have given, I have even done reset but it still crashes when I use Safari.
