Hi all,
Just joined and first post. I have a new iPad and was wondering what is the best (free) software for converting DVDs and Avi's to mp4 to give a clear and sharp picture. I have tried format factory and also loaded avi's through cinexplayer but the films don't look so sharp.

Thanks in advance.

Here's another vote for Handbrake. It's free, it's easy to to use, it works, and did I mention it's free?
Seriously, I've used it for dozens of movies downloaded off the web.

Freemake +1, nice UI and easy to use video converter, built-in iPad output format profile, totally free
