Are you trying to charge it from a wall socket or by the USB on a computer.

From what I have read on this forum they do not charge well on a computer.

Darkangelwitch (Surrey) I luv my iPad

1. Charge using the provided charger.
2. Your data is safe, follow instructions.

I just wanted to add this, you can charge with a Laptop or Desktop PC. Just download ASUS AI Charger (Free), download and install, and reboot your system and you will be able to charge it through Laptop or Desktop PC, just ask me for assistance, and your data is always safe.

Maybe your wall socket is not giving off not enough juice for your iPad? Does it have the lightning icon on the battery?

Does your charger look like this?

If not you have the wrong charger.

It depends. There are different type prongs for a different country like Europe, Hongkong and Australia. As long as it is an original Apple product.

I think the iPad 3 needs a 12v socket, but as far as I've seen, the most common volts that is supplied in a wall socket is 10v.

Actually the input voltage Is a variable of 110V-240V, the prongs can be interchanged for various countries.
We run on 220V here in South Africa.
