Can't play itunes rented video on ipad

I found the movie in VIDEOS but when I hit videos it goes to a black screen and I can't go back? Do I need a special program or app to play rented videos? Also it's showing in my ITunes on my air book but won't do anything when I double click on it

Rentals are downloaded in their entirety to the iTunes library of the device that processed the transaction. They are self deleting and are removed from your iTunes library when the rental window has expired. I've never tried starting/resuming a rental from the videos view but rather from within iTunes under the rental/downloaded tab.
