Can't download Garageband on IOS7

Really frustrated
Have just downloaded a number of music related apps and was just about to download garageband to link it all together , but ... "You need ios8" error message.

Why can't I download to ios 7?
Seriously seriously frustrated

Any suggestions / workarounds ? Am not wiling to go to 8.1 just for this

I'm afraid that GarageBand now requires iOS 8. There's no way to download it on a device that's still on iOS 7.
