received this ipad for my birthday from my husband..great gift. My situation is that I am a flight attendant and my company uses adobe and java to get into our trips and to my disappointment, Im just finding this out. If I would of been present I would have asked this big question..Its still great, but still need to carry a computer with me on all my trips..

Can someone please list me some heavy flash sites which I might actually find useful?

I've been online since before the internet even existed - BBS's were good places full of intelligent people.. And kids with Sinclair Spectrums.. ;), but flash sites have been mildly amusing at best, and utter bits of junk at worst. I accept there are some interesting sits from a design point of view using flash, but nothing I NEED to have access to other than idle browsing.

So.. What are these sites which exist that my life is so empty without having?

Good point...probaly younger folks, im 31, that just want to run porn videos allday. N they cant so they complain about flash..lmfao. ;-)

As an avid golfer, I find most virtual tours of golf courses are in Flash. I plan my golf trips partly around how the courses look on these virtual golf tours. Also, I can't use the Titleist.com website for ball fitting. The earth is not going to stop moving, but it is a hassle to have to go hop on my pc to look at these sites (especially while watching golf on tv).

Except that the Pad isn't a computer or all-in-one tool. For those that need/want flash it's easy to jump on the computer. The iPad is not meant to replace the computer or more specifically the Macbook. It's an additional tool that has many limitations. For those who need something else there are other solutions including the similarly sized Macbook Air 11.

I tried iswifter from the app store. It seems to work ok with flash content. Actually, it is firefox running on a remote Mac computer and what you see is a vnc/rdp session. Not really great for privacy, but it can be helpful in some cases.

Type in "about:" in the URL bar, you'll see some interesting details...

You right, I just did that on swifter and Seen it is running off Firfox thru servers. U can see details on build version and licensing. Cool trick, never knew that. Can this be done with all web browsers to see detailed info?

Yes. I don't know the result for each browser, but on firefox, there is a bunch of options available like "about:plugins"

The other neat thing with iswifter is that the server is located in the US. Since I live in Canada, this gives me access to Hulu and other US only media content.

iPad users, iPad forum

WWbruins, I feel your pain regarding Flash....also feel your frustration regarding use/helpful answers for us Apple Newbies...

There a tons of chat forums out there for technilogical geniuses to strut their stuff in front of each other... but I had thought this iPad forum was designed to share knowledge + help out those with less experience...

I fail to understand how anyone could possibly mis-construe your original straightforward question as a joke.

I came to the forum today to get the same info..."what player IS avail on iPad?"
I'm a new iPad user too, always had Windows up until now.
I have had less trouble figureing this stuff out on iPad than switching from one Windows program to another.

The next desktop computer for me is a Mac for sure...I didn't know what I'd
been missing!
Wondering how many peeps use the iPad without still having a backup computer...that is where I open certain email attachments. The fact that
many emails w/attachments were unsolicited by me in the first place lets me relax about the whole issue...ENJOY YOUR NEW iPad!

LMAO I find some people on here amusing at best, almost every site has some flash on it, you are really behind in the times if you think that flash isnt needed on most of the REAL web. I hate when people start in because THEY dont need flash, good for you, but leave the others alone who want and like it, simple as that.

Oh, what irony!

If that's the REAL web, I don't want it on MY iPad.
