    Very clever.

I wonder, why no other app does that. It would be really cool for clock apps, too.

    Absolutely.

On a tangent, how about animated icons?

Animation and battery life don't go well together, do they?

    Depends.

Animation on the concept of uber optimisations like the old animated GIFs take no mem/power at all. I work in CG animation and can't see why not. I suppose animated icons would be fairly distracting if anything.

    Distraction is an interesting point.

Having 26 different animations looking at one at the same time may indeed by leading to more distraction then helping usability.

Which animations are you referring too?

I wasn't aware that there are animations for app icons.

Oh my goodness. The amount of times I put my iPad to sleep and wake it back up again so I can check the date. And it is there on my calendar icon all the time. I hadn't noticed either. Thanks for the observation.

Sent from my iPad using iPF

This was present in the original iPhone, from nearly 4 years ago. Back then we wondered why the weather app, not available by default on iPad, didn't do likewise. That weather app still shows sunny and 73 degrees fahrenheit even now lol.
