Hi there,

I won an IPAD, A1335 with 32 gigs, wifi and some sort of gps. As I was not looking to buy one, didn't even know I was in a competition for one, I am very unaware of what they do. My confusion is that all pictures I have seen of IPAD's they have icons on the screen. When I start mine up all i get is 1 icon for Itunes with a picture of the connecting USB and an arrow from that pointing at the Itunes icon. I believe I am supposed to link into Itunes to somehow have access to that, but I expected lots of options not just Itunes, to be available...

Is this correct that there is nothing on the Ipad? Why don't I have all the other icons and things that I see being played with in the PCmag Apple iPad video review on Youtube that I have just been looking at? (url removed) Do I need to download them all separately?

Is this normal??

thanks, Juliet

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

I saw your problem - the picture on the screen is telling you that you have, first of all, to connect your iPad to your PC or Mac. It will then initialise the iPad and you're in business. Make sure you have the latest version of Apple's iTunes software on your PC first of all - you can download it from the Apple website for free if you don't have a copy. The PC will then set up your iPad - transfer all your email settings, contacts list etc to your iPad automatically.

If you don't have access to a PC or Mac or are worried about doing this, take the iPad to an Apple Store and they'll do it for you for free.

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.
