Back-up corrupt????

Hi, I need help pls!!!!! I have googled all night trying to fix my kids ipad, it all started when I plugged the iPad into the PC and it completed an update which did take a long time. When it had finished all 300 apps where gone only the first screen with the standard apps, so I click restore and it gave me the option of the back-up which was prefect and it got most of the way though and then it tells me (itunes could not restore the iPad because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the ipad that is being restored?? what can I do my kids are crying their farm story/smurfs is no longer there??? Do I start again or is there a way to fix this??? Thanks

Welcome to ipf,

Can you not just sync the apps from iTunes?
If you purchased the apps, log back into app store, are re download them, then at least your kids can be happy while we sort this out.
