i shut my iPad air off and when I put it back on some of the apps have a white
background with black lines. How do I get the apps to look like they did before I shut it off.
Thanks.

I've had that happen a few times with ios8. Not sure the cause or solution, but for me it seemed to happen to web link icons rather than actual app icons. I cannot recall if they came good themselves or if I did something about it.

Those icons would be for homescreen bookmarks and not for App Store apps. The way to get them back to normal is to turn off your password and do a hard reset by holding the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears then release both buttons. After the iPad restarts the icons will be back to normal and you can turn your password back on.
