According to a report on AppleInsider today, iPad sales in 2011 are on course to exceed all expectations, with component makers predicting that Apple could sell between 40 and 45 million of the tablets. The prediction comes from Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White, who is currently visiting China and Taiwan, and who has been told as much by the component suppliers that he’s been talking to over there. White says that he was told exactly the same figures when he visited Asia last fall, but at the time few in the media and business world could believe the accuracy of such huge figures. Now the iPad 2 is here though, they most definitely do believe! On average, most analysts have predicted that Apple will sell around 30 million iPads in 2011. As AppleInsider notes, Apple sold 15 million original iPads in the 9 months that the device was on sale in 2010, so 45 million in 2011 would be an astonishing feat.
