Got mine in red today... It's on my iPad 3. Might get another colour for my iPad 2.

I have just received the new iPad smart case, however I'm not certain about the edging. Does anyone else find it quite sharp?

The red with the white iPad is beautiful!!

I have the red smart cover and love it. Anyone have both the red smart cover and red smart case to compare??? Undecided if I should get smart casein red, already have it in pink and dark grey.

The smart cover lays down on the screen a bit better, and the ability to remove it easily comes in hand from time to time. When you add a separate back cover for better protection this usually interferes (slightly) with how well the cover sits on the screen.

If you want the back cover to begin with, don't want your front cover coming off, and prefer a better material (subjective and ignoring the leather covers), the smart case is nicer . Over all I'd say it does a slightly better job of protecting the iPad than the combination of Hypershield back cover and smart cover I had before. Mostly because the corners and edges are have a soft ridge around them that should absorb a bit more impact.

In my opinion the Smart Cover is probably good enough if your iPad never leaves the house, and your not clumsy like me. The Smart Case is better if you carry the iPad about in generally safe reasonably clean environments, and want a bit more fall protection.

If you're going to take it everywhere, and everywhere includes some dirty or rough environments, you're probably going to want some more serious protection.

Is the smart case lighter then a smart cover and back skin combo?

If there is a difference it is not obvious. At least not to me. I've never bothered to weigh either of them.

There are a lot of back case/covers, and they vary widely in materials and thickness. My experience is limited to just the one case cover combo. You can't really generalize from it.

Smart Case for iPad is really very good and it is very much useful. It provides us auto lock and a stand facility which is much needed for a bulky iPad. It protects our iPad against the scratches and other damages.

I bought it on June 15 and I noticed it today that it has a quiet good cut along the fold side. Will they replace it if I go to the Apple store today? Im sure they will call this wear and tear but for under 2 months that seems kinda weak.

I have exactly the same problem but on the bottom of the case. The iPad has cut through.

The smart Case puts the iPad to sleep and wakes it up in the same manner as the Smart Cover.
