Apple Debuts New “Indie Game Showcase†Section on iTunes

    Apple has recently brought some changes to its iOS App Store and one of them is the new “Indie Game Showcase,†a special section where independent games and their developers will get featured. Thew new Indie Game Showcase section now appears on the iTunes App Store’s homepage and was first spotted by the Mac Stories publication. Here’s how the App Store team describes the new section:


    The first edition features the Simogo developer who created hit game Device 6, a runner-up for 2013′s Game of the Year award. Year Walk and Beat Sneak Bandit are the other two games that have been highlighted. Apple’s new Indie Game Showcase section gets official at the end of the Game Developers Conference where indie productions have been receiving a lot of promotion.

    Big companies have started to take a bigger interest in indie games, as Sony unveiled improved development tools for indie developers on PS4, Microsoft showcased games part of the ID@XBOX program, Nintendo showed the capabilities of its Web Framework and Epic and Crytek announced subscription services for their game engines.
