Fresh intel coming from well-connected Mark Gurman with 9to5Mac says that Apple is indeed working on releasing a brand new iPad Pro. He has apparently gotten hold of a leaked product roadmap which says Apple will launch two new twelve-inch iPads, and will also introduce some useful software features for them -dual-app viewing mode and add multi-user support.
At the moment we can only speculate on the release date of the device, which could be set for this fall, but as far as the software goes, there's a chance that we'll witness some new features being talked about at the company’s developer conference WWDC 2015.
According to the roadmap, the two big iPads are being internally referred to as “J98″ and “J99” (codenames). It seems that the new devices are going to be larger versions of the iPad Air 2.
The dual-app viewing mode or split-screen ability will allow the users to set up 1/2, 1/3, and 2/3 viewing modes. Thus, one would be able to run two apps side-by-side. Furthermore, Apple could add a USB port and support for an additional keyboard, as well.
